Human Time Machine is Adler’s system of conducted hand gestures used to generate, develop and destroy rhythmic ideas in real time. The concept draws from South American and West African drum ensembles as well as Butch Morris’ “Conduction,” John Zorn’s “Cobra,” Walter Thompson’s ”Sound Painting Orchestra” and others. There is a game-like aspect to the system and a simple premise: to create a democratic rhythmic culture of the "here and now." The resulting music is an earth-shaking party of organically shifting patterns. Audiences listen, dance, and participate in the collision of cheironomic, linguistic and sonic perspectives.
